Counselor In Training Program

Life Saver Overview

COUNSELOR IN TRAINING (CIT)

FOR CHILDREN ENTERING GRADES 9-11

Counselor In Training (CIT)

Camp Northpoint aims to see our campers grow and succeed. We have developed, along with other YMCA of Greater Rochester Day Camps, a leadership track for our campers that have aged out of traditional camp programming that will help develop the skills needed as they embark on the journey of becoming a young professional.

The Camp Northpoint  CIT (Counselor In Training) programs are to designed to allow participants to gain leadership skills, a sense of accomplishment, responsibility and belonging.  All while working closely with camp leadership to learn what it takes to be a Day Camp Counselor.

Participants will work with various age groups (campers entering K-5) throughout their session as well as different program specialty areas. Throughout their session participants will document their experience and discuss with one another both their successes and needs for improvement.  CITs who successfully complete the program will have the opportunity to return to CNP as a Volunteer for Session 10.

Participants interested in the CIT program will need to complete an application, provide references and have an interview.
